BKK- weather and fruits
I have questions, you have answers and please no snide remarks about doing my research before I ask these questions!
We will be in BKK in mid-January. What will the temps and humidity be? Also what fruits will be in season? (such as Mangosteen, Lanzones(like Longans), Custard Apple (Atis).
Thanks!

Hi, Bill, use my favorite weather website for temps: www.weatherbase.com
I'll leave it to someone else to tell you about fruits in season. It seems to me that some fruits are always in season there, like various types of melons.

As for the weather, probably mid 80s. I'm there in Dec/Jan. although it can be cool in the morning. Year before last when I landed at 6:40AM, the pilot came on and announced it was 65 degrees out. This past December, it was a bit warmer in the morning, but still around mid 80s during the day. Happy Travels!

Unfortunately Jan is low season for the best tropical fruits, at least in my view. I lived in HCMC 4 yrs, flew to Bangkok monthly, and have since timed visits to coincide w/ the confluence of mangosteen and lychee seasons in late May/early June. This period also features durian, dragonfruit, pomelo, mangos, mountain apple, milkfruit, custard apple, rambutan.
Some fruits are year-found--bananas, some mangos, dragonfruit I think, and maybe milkfruit. I've heard recently durian has become a year-round fruit.
Have you tried googling Thailand fruit season or January fruit Thailand etc?

Mangosteen are late May/June. At Christmas/New Year's we've found Pomelo, Durian, and custard apple, but the custard apples were very expensive so may have not been in season. We had dragon eyes (Longan, I think?) every morning on the buffet at breakfast, but don't remember buying them in the market.

Bill,
Try this web site for fruits and their season in Thailand.

Mid December - Mid January are the coolest months for Bangkok with "mild" temperature and the lowest humidity for the year.

Thanks to all for the info and patience. The Wife may be disappointed that she'll not get to eat Mangosteen, Longkang (?) and Custard Apple but she'll trade that for cool weather in BKK. Last time we went there (April), it was so hot she didn't enjoy BKK; thus, we didn't go back to BKK sooner even though Longkang and Mangosteen were available at that time -- no Custard Apple either.
