Best possible route

What would be the best route to include Guilin, Xian and Shanghai. I am planning to start in HK. Many thanks.

Geographically, it makes most sense to do a loop. HK - Guilin - Xian - Shanghai - HK; or vice versa. That means the shortest total flight time.

However, that doesn't necessarily means the cheapest. For example, Guilin - Xian has one or two flights a day, and little discount. So, if you want the cheapest total cost, you have to try different combinations to check.

Also, there aren't that many non-stop HKG (Hong Kong)- XIY (Xian) or HKG - KWL (Guilin) flights a day. To save a little bit of money and to get better flight times, you may want to fly into and out of Shenzhen (SZX) instead of HKG.

From the Hong Kong airport, you can take a ferry to the Shenzhen airport. From the city, you can take a ferry or a "direct" bus.
