Best hotel buffet dinner in HK

Hi,

I and my family will be in HK end of Nov and we are thinking of trying out HK hotel buffet dinner. Which hotel is the best? I've read about Harbourside Intercontinental, Cafe Too Shangrila and Cafe Kool Shangrila. How are they rated? Can I get 6 places without reservation on a weeknight or do I need to reserve early? Thanks.

Harbourside @ InterContinental.com(my fav) most variety of food / seafood selection. For the environment as well as the quality of food, Conrad, JW Marriott...

Do reserve... chowhound.com many good threads...

The Harbourside is great in terms of view, but in terms of sheer variety of food, Café Too would be a better choice, IMO. I actually prefer the a la carte menu at the Harbourside over the buffet. I only go to Café Too for lunch, where you generally do need a reservation. For a weekday dinner, I doubt that you need one, or can call the same day to get it. Have not been to Shangri-La (not sure if you mean the Kowloon one or the one on Hong Kong Island.

I think Harbourside probably has the best quality of food (and a price to match) for hotel buffet. cafe too has more variety in comparison to Harbourside.

This is HK and 90% of the population has an obsession with hotel buffets. I suggest you call ahead at least one week in advance to secure a table for 6 (esp if you go to Harbourside and want window seating). You might be able to get a table on the same day but it probably won't be in a good location of the restaurant (eg: high traffic area). Do not think about walking in...

Thanks everyone for the info. Would anybody have any idea what would be the rate for the buffet dinner at harbouside and cafe too? I will probably call on the day I arrive for the reservation.

About HK$550-600 + 10% service charge for this class of dinner buffet. So, about US$80.

Hi,

I only managed to get a table for 6 pax for Wed in cafe Too Island Shangri La as there is no table available on Fri in both cafe Too and harbourside. Am I correct that the nearest MTR to cafe too is Admiralty and what exit do I need to take? Is it within walking distance from the MTR?
Thanks,

Admiralty MTR Exit F will lead directly to the Pacific Place Mall. Follow the signs once inside to go through (and up) the mall to the elevators for the Island Shangri-La.

Harbourside Intercontinental and Conrad are the 2 I've found are pretty incredible. Can't go wrong with either. Much better than Las Vegas.

Some reviews with pictures:
