Beautiful beaches in Phillipines numbers 2 through 10.

Everyone knows Boracay is number 1. I'm looking for someplace new so tell me numbers 2 through 10. Phillipines only. Thanks. I'll be back.

Number 2 (if not 1 IMHO) would have to be and beach on Palawan. We went to three or four beaches there--FANTASTIC. Palawan is SOOO beautiful. We visted beaches both by Puerto Princessa and Roxas.

Bohol has some beautiful beaches--don't know where they would be on a list but definitly top 10.

Zambonga (spelled completely wrong) is supossed to be fantastic. (Only seen photos--so far) That is our next stop as soon as they clear up the Abu Sayaf situation.

Daisy88,

Please compare and contrast your #'s 3 and 4 (cost, accessibility, activities,
eating, accomodations etc.)

Thanks.

Hi Everyone,
Are any of you concerned with travel warnings for the Philipine islands? My husband and I are "aman junkies" and would LOVE to be able to go to the Aman resort there, but we don't want to be "kidnapped"!

Interesting to note that we just got back from Bali and had no problems with the possibility of being "bombed".

Just curious.

Two of the years we have traveled there have been warnings against travel there and we have never had the slightest problem. We have avoided Mindano for that specific purpose but I would not hesitate to go anywhere else there.

What is an "aman" resort? Is that a brand? A type of resort?

Aman resorts are a chain of very small private resorts all over the world. They are consistently ranked higher than Four Seasons for personal service and "resort" experience. They can usually be found in exotic island locales - not bustling cities.

Good to see the Philippines getting some good press on its island resorts.

I know this thread has been closed for some time, but how safe is Palawan for Americans? I plan to go to Puerto Princesa with my 7 year old and wife who is from the island. She says it is safe, but the State Dept says otherwise.... any thoughts?

We ended up taking the trip to the Palawan area (Amanpulo Resort - private island). It was fabulous!

But before our trip, we researched which areas of the Philippines suffer the most from terrorism. We also spent a lot of time dissecting our resort's security system and protection against intruders and found it to be very good.

You'll probably want to do the same. At the end of the day, you don't want to go someplace where you do not feel comfortable.
