we were planning on going to the Colonnade at the Sukhothai for Suday Brunch as I 'd heard good reports. Any thoughts on this versus other hotel brunches.

However I'm also considering visiting the Celadon if the food/service is up to scratch for the price. How does the food compare to Harmonique which seem s to be a bit of a favorite here.

I prefer the food at Lemongrass to the food at Harmonique. Harmonique is interesting, particularly because it is run by a couple of older Chinese women. That means the food is Chinese-Thai. They serve steamed bread with their curries. Lemongrass is more true Thai cuisine. Harmonique is also renowned for slow service, especially if you choose to eat inside away from the smokers. I don't want to discourage you from harmonique, but do be aware of the downside (I eat there each time I'm in Bangkok)

For upscale Thai, I love the beautiful Thai restaurant in the Sheraton Royal Orchid. Great food, attentive service and a view of the river. The Spice Market in the Four Seasons was good, but the room is not especially pleasant, and the prices were very high. The Thai restaurant in the Grand Hyatt has an order form the menu "buffet" at lunch which is a great deal. Sorry, can't remember the name - it's on the 4th floor.

harmonique is fantastic...it is a combo of thai and chinese....let me look up what we paid at each place and that will let you know one angle...

the food is much fancier presentation at celedon as you would expect...it is an outing, while harmonique is just a good meal at a reasonable price...

i do not think you can compare the two...its like comparing the peninsula and the marriott....not the same league...both good places but different qualities, if you will...

sorry i cannot find the price for celedon in our diary but i suspect it was perhaps $35-40 for lunch...harmonique was 980B for a very filling meal in june...about $24....including beers...
