bed is too expensive , so are all the restaurants at most thai hotels...
i much prefer baan khanitha on soi 23 (only this location) over lemongrass...
next door to cabbages and condoms is one of my favorites: crepes and co...it is crepes, middle eastern, tappas among other things...open for all 3 meals daily...soi 12, sukhumvit??
tongue thai is a new favorite...
NEVER EXPECT WINE IN THAILAND TO EAT AT YOUR STATED PRICE...
gallery cafe near the sheraton is good..
lalo italian on the corner of soi 23, sukhumvit and sukhumvit is a good italian place in that price range...
l'opera on soi 39 also in that cetegory---excellent italian...
the loft at central chitlom (7th floor)definately with many cuisines to choose from...
harmonique also way within that category...
there are thousands of places in bkk....over $35 is the exception really....

hi
i have another recommendation - it's not a teak setting, but it's fun!
Seafood market at the end of Sukhumvit Soi 24 (big lobster neon light sign). IF you are not squeamish, you can pick the seafood you want, put it in a trolley, go to the cashier, sit down, tell the waiters how you want things cooked and sit back and enjoy. (There's an extra cooking charge too). It is great fun, and quite an experience! The yellow curry crab is particularly nice. Anthony Bourdain featured the place in one of his programmes.

My current favorite recommendations are: (all prices are from Nov 2005)
The China House (at the Oriental) for Peking Duck. We paid US$44 for a gorgoeus meal for two including pearl jasmine tea, the Peking duck and we split a fresh mango pudding for dessert. Plenty of food for two people.
MahaNaga: They bill the food as fusion, but what we ordered was really Thai. Gorgeous setting, lovely service and fabulous food. We paid US$47 for two including mineral water and a couple of beers.
Face - Lanna Thai - While there have been variable reports of the restautants at Face, we had the best Thai food of our trip there. US$28.
Gallery Cafe - a nice little spot near the Royal Orchid, we had a lovely lunch there for US19 for 2, again including mineral water and beer.
Lemongrass - an old fave. I don't know how much our bill was (I can give you the othe prices as well put them on a credit card) but likely in the under US$20 range.
