Bangkok - last afternoon

In our last day in Bangkok, our flight back to home is at 00:30 in the night.
We can keep our room at hotel till 13:00. Of course we can leave the luggage at the hotel after that.
We do not want to arrive at airport very tired and with wet clothes.
What do you recommend to do in this afternoon, till ~ 8 p.m. ?

not sure where you are staying, but how about spending most of the day at their pool if they have one and then go near-by for a lovely but early dinner....many hotels have some place where you can change after the pool time like a ladies and/or mens room...some may even have showers...use the health club also if they have one to change....ask your hotel desk what is available...

i agree you want to arrive fresh at the airport...

Thank you for the advise. It seems to be a great idea to go in afternoon to the pool! Our hotel has two, and I hope to find also a plaace to change clothes, etc.

Thanks a lot!

Valtor-there will always be a place to change clothes, however, you can ask your hotel if they have a late check-out-sometimes if you belong to one of the hotel pts. programs, they will allow later check-out, for example Hyatt does this for its Passport Members.

On the other hand, since you are leaving so late, you could consider whether you want to do late check-out, by paying a half-day rate-that way, you won't have to check out of your room until 6 or 7 pm.

Hello Valtor. We're in the same boat, since our flite departs at 11:55p. After seeing how late we can check out - and Spygirl's suggestion of checking on the possibility of a half day rate is great - we'll do whatever in the morning, spend the afternoon by the pool, maybe find a cool nook in the bar to read and relax more (we are on vacation after all!) and then going out for one last great meal. I've flown home more than once with a wet bathing suit in a plastic bag!

Hi CJ- my flight from BKK left at 11:45pm or so, and I definitely had things to do on the last day, so I got a half-day rate at Marriott, checked out around 7:00pm and then had dinner before going to the airport. It worked out just right. They can almost always offer you a half-day rate unless they are completely booked out.

Getting a half day rate is a good idea, esp. if you want to catch a few winks before leaving.

The advice from rhkkmk about asking at the desk is also a good idea. I did that at the Hyatt in Bali. Must have been when I was checking out that I mentioned that I had a late night flight and wanted to get a shower before heading to the airport. They gave me a key to a room and I took a shower, no charge. It was a room in an undesirable high traffic area that they probably don't rent out unless the place is packed. Definitely ask what is available.

the shangri-la allows people to use private rooms in the fitness center...on our last stay the center was closed so they opened two reg guest rooms: one for men and one for women....not private but acceptable...very generous i thought...
