Bangkok and Phuket activities

Hi and thanks in advance for the help!

My fiance and I are spending almost two weeks in Thailand for our honeymoon (as are many people on here it seems!). We will be in Bangkok for about 4 days and we are also staying at SPG's new resort on Naka Yai Island in Phuket for 8 days.

Neither of us have traveled to Thailand before and are a little lost on what to do while we are there. We would love to experience the culture and we are up for a little adventure. Can anyone suggest any activities for us while in both Bangkok and Phuket?

We can't wait for our trip and thanks again for your help!

If you are interested in the history of Phuket, and at the same time interested in getting a little off the beaten track, the Phuket Mining Museum is very much worth a look. It's located on a road that winds through the hills between Loch Palm Golf Club and the British International School. Phuket was built around Tin Mining and rubber and fishing.
At Bang Rong, you can take a trip through the mangroves in a kayak. You can hire a driver if you wish so you wont need to do the paddling.
There is a Gibbon Rehabilitation Project, Phuket Butterfly Garden, and a real treat when staying at Phuket, is Khao Sok National Park. Around 2½ hours drive via Khao Lak. Fabulous day out.
And there is loads more.
Phuket has much more going for it than is often stated.

As for Bangkok, well, you will easily fill up four days. A truly unique and fascinating city.

first of all buy yourselves a guidebook on thailand or get one from your local library. this will answer some of your basic questions... we will be delighted to answer tons of your questions when you have a better idea about what is available.

choosing your bkk hotel is an important step. many of us love the riverside hotels (shangri-la, anantara, peninsula, ibis, royal orchid sheraton, hilton and my current fav Chatrium suites riverside). SPG in town places incl: sharaton grande, my fav plaza anthanee, westin and a couple of new meridiens.

places of interest in bkk: grand palace, wat pho, wat arun, golden buddha temple, v-mek teak palace, and most impt the jim thompson house.

Besides visiting the grand palace, and the many beautiful wats, we also booked a three hour walking tour with www.Bankokfoodtors.com it was wonderful and we went to restaurants we never would have found by ourselves. Very well done, a variety of foods, and we highly fecommend it.
