Well, for those who still have any interest in the original purpose of the thread we have booked first class air on Delta/Malaysian from the US east coast for the first two weeks of March. (Award travel on Singapore through Delta is almost impossible to come by.)

Results of the night-lottery are 6 in Bali (probably 2 at the beach then 4 in Ubud thanks to the advice here), then back to KL for 2 nights. Will take the train to Singapore, 6 nights there, and then shoot all the way home with a quick overnight in LA on the way.

Haven't decided on hotels in Bali and there's no rush. Will probably stay at the Mandarin Oriental in KL and the Fullerton in Singapore.

That sounds like a great trip. A couple of things you might want to look at...

I'm going to be in KL a few nights on my upcoming trip. After quite a bit of research, I decided on the Ritz Carlton. I was able to get an Executive Suite for $US126 a night (which includes breakfast in your room). There are so many fabulous hotels in KL and the prices are great. I book through www.asiahotels.com

If you know you want the Fullerton in Singapore, just ignore this suggestion... Singapore is another city with amazing luxury hotels. There are so many to choose from. Everyone here has their favorites, but www.asiahotels.com is another source of info. Go to their site, choose a few hotels and read reviews if you want other ideas. I usually read those reviews then post here for input from people whose posting histories I know.

Well we are one week from travel and pumped. The final plan is a straight shot from Florida all the way through to Bali, fortunately as mentioned, in first class on Delta and Malaysian.

Six nights in Bali will be at a private villa, Villa Dhyan, from BaliVillas.com $200 a night with staff of 5, car and driver at our disposal. Cannot beat it!

Back to KL for 2 nights at the Mandarin Oriental and a quickie visit to the city. Then we are taking the train to Singapore and 6 nights at the Fullerton. Then home with a forced overnight in L.A.

I'm sort of sorry that we didn't add a day to each of the three destinations, but we will make do. The whole holiday is enhanced by going to a Yanni concert the night before we leave, and then to an Elton John one a few days after we get back.

Life is good.

Hello NoFlyZone: We are are planning to do the same as you did with our Delta miles (2 First Class seats with Malaysia), except we are skipping Singapore. Wondering how did it go in regards to the airline itself, hotels as well as safety? Any suggestions or rec?
