Baan Orapin YES, asiarooms NO
Baan Orapin YES, asiarooms NO
So we were in Chiagmai last month. 6 of us stayed at Baan Orapin http://www.baanorapin.com. It was fantastic!
First we wanted to stay in fancy Rachamankha. It looks fabulous on the website! So we booked months ahead through asiarooms.com. I got a room for my husband and I but the rest of my friends couldn’t get the other two rooms. So we had plan B and chose Baan Orapin instead. So I cancelled my reservation immediately through asiarooms. 2 months later they never gave my refund back on my credit card. To me that’s just bad bad bad…I had to email them several times and called them to eventually get that back. So don’t book through asiarooms! I don’t trust them a bit. Others might have had a better experience but that was mine.
Baan Orapin was PERFECT! It saved us so much money. It was lovely. Here’s the lowdown.
- Luv the mosquito net!! The suite is enclosed with screened doors but you know how those mosquitos get in everytime you open the damm door. Mosquito net around our lovely bed. It’s so important…all you need is one little bugger in your room, it will ruin your night sleep trust me.
- Luv the AC. It was super nice for humid days.
- Luv the location. It’s not in the city city but it’s right over the river! During the day we can just walk over the little bridge to the market for food and such. We didn’t really need to be in the city city cuz we were driven everywhere. We ate in the city once and went to the night Bazaar for shopping. The other nights, we were driven to other eateries. Also, there are restaurants (walkable) down the road with nice view right along the river. Becareful walking though…no sidewalks. And never walk alone at night ofcourse. Road noise, yes Baan Orapin is right next to the road but didn’t even noticed the noise. It’s a two lane road. Not that much traffic. The AC is on while you’re sleeping can’t here a thing.
- Luv the breakfast at Baan Orapin. They offer American style breakfast and traditional Thai style. I luv rice…so I had my rice and eggs and bacon! I highly recommended the traditional thai breakfast…sticky rice oh sooooo good.
- Luv the staff: so courteous. The owner studied in America. So his English is super duper great. He answered all my many email correspondents.
- Luv the grounds. As you see in the pictures on the site, it is built like traditional thai style homes…what a great touch. Beautiful lush gardens.
So I highly encourage you stay at Baan Orapin. No doubt the price is right! Also, they are expanding a bit and building new section in the back. I heard there might be a pool too! I would totally go back and stay there again.
Bring a smile, mosquito repellent, sunblock, small bills for tipping, hand sanitizer, and most important…toilet paper when traveling. Safe travels everyone.
