Asia from $299 each way?
I just received the following email from AA.com regarding Asia flights. Not sure if they have many flights/seats at this price...but if you are THINKING of a trip, this could be a great deal.
American Airlines has announced incredible flight deals to Japan and China for a limited-time only. Fly from the U.S. to Japan or China for $299* each way, based on round-trip economy class travel purchased on AA.com. Begin travel by March 31, 2011, and return by April 30, 2011.
These fares won't last long so book your trip by February 18, 2011, to enjoy these great deals.
You can also earn TRIPLE AAdvantage® miles when you fly between Los Angeles (LAX) and Shanghai (PVG) or between New York (JFK) and Tokyo Haneda (HND).

i also received this...i put in some dates for march for bos-pvd and the routing on the cheap flights was outrageous, i.e.
pvd-ord-ewr, then get to lga on your own, and fly to bos..
going the routing was fine... cost about $700+

Price is good but keep in mind that the flights to Tokyo are on AA's new flight to Haneda airport. That airport is enormously more convenient and closer to central Tokyo than is Narita, but AA's flight times are extremely inconvenient: very late arrival and very early departure means that you'll likely spend extra $$ on ground transportation and/or hotels.

Air Asia does have great prices from Europe or Australia... if you can stand the flights. Reviews by those who have flown Air Asia long haul are just ghastly.
Because of all the surcharges on air tickets in the US, and because airlines are allowed to advertise the price before all the surcharges, and advertise a one-way price based on a roundtrip fare, I often get offers like this one from AA. But once you see the price with all the fees and surcharges it's only slightly less than the usual advertised price.
