a few days outside BKK: Krabi rather than Chang Mai?

In Feb we go to Laos and Cambodia and end up in BKK. We are looking to add a few days in Thailand, outside BKK. I had posted on Northern Thailand, but it does honestly not attract me all that much. Maybe a few days of light sightseeing of karst formations + winding down in the Krabi area would be more appropriate. The threat of may-east of 9/12/06 encourages me in this sense. Any comments? Where would you stay? West Railey Beach? Any recommendations?

Call me clueless but what is "may-east of 9/12/06"?

The area of Railay in Krabi is stunning. We stayed at Sunrise Tropical and loved it! We found that the food in this area was not very good compared to Chiang Mai.

There is some great snorkeling and kayaking around Krabi!

I guess it depends on what you are looking for.

I think cram meant to type, "The Thread of May-East" as May East is the person who posted about Krabi...

This is indeed what I meant. Sorry for having kept you guessing. Also sorry for my spelling mistake: thread and threat is indeed not the same. I have found nothing threatening in the message I refer to:

See, may_east? You're doing good without knowing! Encouraged me in chosing for the Krabi area as a little extra after our trip to Laos and Cambodia, on our way back through BKK. Thks
