36 hour layover in Seoul - what to do?

Well, if we want to use our FF miles between LAX and Bangkok, we may have to spend 36 hours in Seoul on the way. I know we'll be drained from the flight and will probably sleep half that time, but what are some "must sees" that we can fit?

Also, any suggestions for a reasonably priced hotel for the night?

Hmmm, I just saw someone mention a nearby seashore in another post? Is there a beach or somewhere to just plain chill out reasonably near the airport? That may even be a better option than going into a hectic city. Any info either way would be appreciated!

The Leeum Samsung Muesum - www.leeum.org is fabulos both for the collection and the architecture. U must book in advance as controlled numbers. Wander through the Insadong area - a bit touristy but worth a dekko esp the new Ssamzie Gil shopping center, very interesting stuff. See one of the palaces - I saw Changdok, near Insadong, has a garden attached to it. Guided tours in English twice a day. The trendiest shops in Seoul are in the Apgujedeong area. The W hotel in the city is fab but out of the way. The Grand Hyatt is very well located and brand new. The Shilla is OK. Not sure any of these are reasonable.

Well, it looks like we will be going through Kuala Lampur now instead of Korea. Hopefully, this info will still be useful to someone!
