2 days in Sri Lanka

Hi,
We will be in Sri Lanka for 2 days in March, on transit (on our way back to Delhi from our honeymoon in Maldives)

Any suggestions for what we can do in the two days? - we are thinking of Negombo and Kandy currently. Not sure when we will be coming to Sri Lanka next, so we want to make the most out of the short stay there.

Thanks,
Saurabh

Hi there - sort of depends what sort of two days. Like what time you arrive, and what time you depart.

Kandy is a very good choice. Also, if you have time and will be hiring a car/driver - there's Dambulla (amazing, amazing - and not far from Kandy, and a couple of hours there would be plenty) and Sigiriya too.

It's years since I did it but I remember enjoying going to Kandy on the train.

All the best.

If you got 2 days,I suggest you stick to places around Colombo.Negombo is a good place to stay. You could also try Bentota or Hikkadua.
Kandy would be too far for a day trip.It could take 4 hrs one way(unless you want to use up 2 days for Kandy & Nuwarailiya). Not advisable, though its wonderful.

You'd probably have time for a visit to the elephant orphanage - try not to miss it!

Two days --- ah, so much to see and so little time. I was there for four or five days and could have stayed for a week or two. I stayed at Saman Villa about two (maybe three) hours from Columbo. It was bombastically beautiful. I did a day tour at Yala National Park but that would be pushing it for you though, I think. I would have like to go up to the tea region so you may want to look into that. I have some info on Saman and my trip at http://www.bombasticlife.com/pas-sri-lanka

have a great time. Sri Lanka is a gem!
