Anyways, I have no plan to visit Indonesia anytime soon, but those that do, I would avoid them.

DH is planning a budget business trip to Indonesia & Singapore - this just came up tonight- and I thank you for posting this. I know when planning for budget trips, it's tempting to utilize these newbie cheapo carriers, so I'll have to steer him away from Adam Air.

I'm an American living in Indonesia and the local budget airlines scare the crap out of me. I wouldn't get near the likes of Adam Air and that was before their planes started falling out of the sky.
Indonesia is rife with plane and ferry disasters - had one of each just yesterday.
Garuda is the only Indonesian airline we'll fly and the only Indonesian airline approved by our company.
L - budget and Indonesia just don't go together. Suggest your husband consider flying Singapore Air if possible. Otherwise Garuda is his best best.

haha, spoke with the son of the show producer yesterday, and he told me his father is booking air based on whatever comp tickets he can get. i don't know how that works, but S-CAR-RRRY!
i would've suggested JAL or Singapore Air, but it looks likes those are out of the question (they're headed to Japan and Singapore now).

Thought about you and this post when I heard about the Garuda Air crash last week in Indonesia. We were in Australia at the time and it was all over the news as several Aussies were on board. Very upsetting all around, a sad day indeed. Also scary for those of us who rely on Garuda, as they're still the best airline choice we have.
Glad to report that we flew from Singapore to Jakarta and Jakarta to Pekanbaru on Garuda today without incident. It was difficult to board a flight operated by an airline that just lost a plane last week due to pilot error.
Hopefully, it's an isolated incident and not a sign of things to come.
I hope your husband was safe in his travels and enjoyed his visit to our corner of the world.

No more Indonesia on this trip- just Japan and Singapore.
His flight from Japan (not sure which airport) to SIN is on Al Nipon.
US- Japan and back are on American Airlines.
Thanks for your thoughts! Now please cross your fingers that he's flying business class to SIN!
