Why is MSP-CHI so expensive?
Any idea?

It's over $400 round trip, for what would be a seven hour drive. This trip is never included in fare sales. Neither of them are teeny, out of the way airports. I can't figure it out.

Simple - no competition. There's NW and that's about it - no discount carriers. Same reason fares between MSP - IAH & HOU are expensive.

There is no low fare carrier in that market.Until there is, then the others--NW,AA,UA--feel no obligation to have a lower fare than they have.

Wow, what timing.In this morning's Dallas Morning News, Southwest CEO announced that beginning in March they will begin to fly the Minneapolis-Chicago Midway route.It is underserved and overpriced.

beachboi - that is nice. I didn't get to see a paper this morning so missed it. SW usually sends me email alerts, but haven't seen that one yet.

I used to fly MDW-MSP for 125/rt. Those were the days!! I cannot wait for SW to give NW competition in this market! THANK YOU SW
