We're flying on 3 seperate tickets today
Imagine the horror!!!
Ticket #1 Tobago-Port of Spain Trinidad Caribbean Airlines 1:15pm dep - 1:40pm arr
Ticket #2 POS-MIA AA 4:20pm dep - 7:20pm arr
Ticket #3 MIA-SRQ AA 8:55pm dep - 10:05pm arr
What are our chances?
Especially the MIA connection as it's INT-DOM and we only have about 1:35 hours inbetween.
Just having some fun...

welcome back home to reality!
We had what looked almost like a blizzard of snow blowing around here yesterday. It didn't stick to the ground, but you could sure see it coming... the view to the west, as I was out driving, was just all white! I'm in west central Illinois. Think Peoria...
I will be more than happy to head to Bangkok for a few weeks in Dec and Jan!

ahhh, the beautiful winters in IL. I do remember those days.....
(East)Peoria - the home of Caterpillar, a company, my company use to do a great deal of work for. In fact they were our biggest customer. Been there many times.
SO is taking a shower. We're almost packed. I need a quick shower as well and then off to the airport in about an hour. It's hour ahead of ET here.
If anybody is planning on coming to Tobago and don't mind not staying right on the beach, but very close to it, and a about a mile walk to little town, we highly recommend the Hummingbird Hotel. They do have a website. It's only 10 rooms,so it's quiet. It's brand new, sparkling clean, great AC, huge pool, a little bar/restaurant combo. They have a "suite" with a kitchen for $85 per night. Free drop off at the airport. Not sure about pick ups as we got off the sailboat yesterday at a marina not too far away....
ok, it's my turn for a refresher. See you guys on the other side.....

Well, we did not make it home tonight. AA screwed up big time and we're paying for it.
The 763 from MIA to POS left on time, so everything looked good, but they had some kind of mechanical with the landing gear and circled POS for about an hour before landing. Once they landed, they called the local mechanics to check out the warning lights in the the cockpit. They fixed 2 out of 3 but their shift was over and when it's over, it's over. The new contracted crew took over but now it meant that they had to read the log book and basically start from scratch. In the meantime, I had our itn changed from MIA-SRQ (ticket#3) to MIA-TPA. The phone agent was a stickler to rules and regulations so I just thanked her for nothing and hung up. The gate agents and the station chief were much more sympathetic to our situation and the station chief authorized the GA to change our ticket, no charge. It looked good, but unfortunately it got worst. At some point we realized we wouldn't make that flight either.
MIA-SRQ (dep 8:55pm)
MIA-TPA (dep 10:55pm)
So, back to square one. Fortunately, the GA knew our situation and changed our flight to tomorrow morning ~9am to TPA. There is only 1 flight to SRQ and it leaves at 8:55pm and we didn't feel like sitting around MIA for all these hours.
Called my regular car service. She had no problem scheduling us in.
AA did not give us a free hotel room, just a distress rate at an airport hotel. Nice, but nothing special. That was expected, not the quality of the place, but the distress rate as we were flying on separate tickets.
OTOH, MIA immigration and customs took about 5 minutes. They were just waiting for us and wanted to go home just as much as we did.
My dare did not work this time, but with little perseverance and cool heads, no yelling, screaming, accusing everybody of being an idiot (although there were moments.....
), at the very least we got back to the country, got a flight much closer to home in the morning, and I have a feeling an acceptable number of free miles will be showing up in our accounts.
On that note, I will say - SEE YA!!!!!
btw, the reason we didn't rent a car in MIA is because we were sitting in the business lounge in POS with all the other business class passengers and we got totally wasted, thanks to AA picking up the tab.......Met some great people. If there is anything positive about the ordeal, that would be it.
