We flew from Rome to Boston last May on Alitalia (it was a Delta ticket, but Alitalia metal). The flight was late leaving Rome and the communication from the ground staff in Rome was HORRIBLE, but once we were aflight - it was a great flight. We got a brand new plane - and I can't tell you how much difference it made - it was quiet, and the air quality inside the cabin was great - more humidity I think. Probably the most comfortable flight home from Europe we've had (and we were in cattle class). Just my 2cents...

Better known as leave late arrive late airlines.
I have had two ghastly experiences with them this year.
Boarding is total chaos, they are located in satellite terminal so you need to do some trekking to get to main terminal from arrival gate or to go to depature gate to main terminal.
1. plane was 2 hours delayed due a tire issue, food ran out, entertainment was not working on about 3/4 of the plane, my area of course included.
2. plane was 20+ hours delayed, same food and entertainment issues.
These were Rome to LA flights.
