Read if you're flying NW in the next few days!
Northwest has quietly cancelled a bunch of flights starting last Thursday (6/21) and may last till the end of the month. There's no press release about this, but internally, their workers have been warned.
No official reason, but it seems like the pilots are taking industrial actions - like not doing overtime, etc. In protest of management.
If you're flying NW in the next few days, check your itinerary now, and again frequently.
Here'a thread to read if you want to know more:

Someone on a.net tallied up the cancellation. It's over 10% over the weekend:
Mainline flights/Cancelled:
6/17 - 1382/42
6/18 - 1421/39
6/19 - 1436/91
6/20 - 1435/56
6/21 - 1439/50
6/22 - 1445/100
6/23 - 1342/159
6/24 - 1370/186 (as of 9pm EDT)
I should add that some domestic routes have been upgraded to the A330, and international flights so far have been immune. So the total number of seats affected is less.

The national media finally has caught up with this story. The MSP Star Tribune, USA Today and WSJ all has articles about NW on today's papers.
The pilot union is saying it's management's fault for not getting enough pilots. NW is saying it's due to summer storm. Yeah, right!

Heard about these developments this morning. Can't say I'm too surprised, as NW, out of all of the legacy carriers, seems to treat their employees the worst. They have a CEO (Steenland) who seems to be a cum laude graduate of the Mr. Burns - Marie Antionette School of Business. Guess this is just karma, you reap what you sow, or whatever else you want to call it. Unfortunately, it's NW's pax who will suffer.
