not flying all legs of trip?
Chance for a nice trip to London if I don't have to continue to Dublin! I found a flight on Lufthansa from NYC to Dublin, connection in London. What happens if I don't continue through to Dublin? Also, my return flight originates in Dublin - I can get a train or flight from London to Dublin for the return, but if I wasn't on that original flight to London, am I out of luck on the return?

If you don't connect in London and continue on to Dublin, I believe your ticket is invalid for the return. The only leg of a trip that you dare to skip out on is the 'last' one. I have only done this twice in my lifetime. I bought a round trip ticket on a European airline between two European cities because the RT ticket was much cheaper than just the one way I needed. The other time was on a puddle jumper from OHare to my 'local' airport, after returning from Asia. I had a ride home rather than waiting hours at OHare for my puddle jumper. I just didn't get on that flight. No problem. But I don't do it habitually!

As Julia1 suggested, see if Lufthansa will allow a "stopover" ..... not sure if you can book online or will need to do so via phone w/ ticketing agent. Essentially you purchase a round trip ticket to/ from Dublin, however instead of flying from London to Dublin on same day you do so several days later ("stopping over" in London).
