Northwest Airlines

Anyone have any recent experiences with them? I have an option of flying them- got a really good fare.

Any comments would really be helpful.

Thanks! Betsy

Happy readings. Where are you flying to?

Thanks for the info-
Knoxville, TN (TYS)
They have a price of 239.00; Delta wants about 280.00, and USAirways 318.00

where are you flying from? I fly NWA all the time and use them about 50% of the time when I go to Knoxville.

They've had some trouble with flight cancellations over the past few months, but maybe they're over...

Don't fear the link: It's for an on-topic entry in a travel blog at a newspaper Web site in the heart of Northwest territory.

NW gets really mixed reviews. Their international service is generally ranked much better than domestic. They used to have one of the oldest fleets in the air, but they've finally gotten rid of their DC 9s and DC 10s. Their A320s can be fairly comfortable. As worktowander says, they've had some well-publicized flight delays and cancellations this year (the reason depends on who you talk to - but the delays existed regardless). Hard to know if these will continue.

It is not our favorite airline, but for service/attitude issues - NOT safety issues. For a relatively short flight, I'd take them - just don't expect much (as with almost any domestic flight these days). In fact our DD is flying them to MSP next month for a family gathering.

I'd certainly pick them over US.

I have had multiple bad experiences with NW, with them growing more common. Many of my trips are to Michigan, where Northwest predominates. I go far out of my way, to fly other carriers.
