Need help. Where to go. In January
Hello All,
I thought I would get your ideas on where we can go on our holiday in January since you are all so well travelled and I value your input. I realize this is a broad question but am hoping for somewhere we haven't thought about. We would like somewhere hot/warm and not raining. We have 2 weeks starting January 14, 2013. These are destinations we have thought about:
Morocco but from what I have read here there are conflicting opinions on the weather.
Argentina
Viet Nam
Hopefully you guys can add more ideas or elaborate on the ones I am thinking of.
Thanks for your help,
Mirasia

I love Marrakech anytime.
Thailand is perfect in January, a few days in Bangkok, a few days in Chiang Mai, then down south to the beachs and/or islands.
Kerala state in the south of India would be my first-choice suggestion, however, with perhaps a few days in the Backwaters, then up into the mountains for a few more days, and finish in Cochin. Hot, no rain, beautiful, interesting, lovely people.

Here's another vote for Thailand. A few days in Bangkok and then off to an island or beach destination. Koh Samui is amazing.
Vietnam is also a great destination - the people, food, sights were all wonderful.
I've not been to Indonesia yet, but that could be an option worth research.

Thanks for all your suggestions. We have been to Thailand and Cambodia and loved it. I will check out India that sounds very interesting and will try the different posts.

Both Argentina and Viet Nam are perfect vacation destinations you can plan your vacations, as this also depends on your budget because you have sufficient 2 weeks time but airfares depends upon distance. I think you should plan your vacations within your budget. As per my suggestion you can choose Viet Nam..

Mirasia, Morocco is not hot in January. Vietnam is good or anywhere else in SE Asia. Also look at the Philipines. Here are some places totally off most people's radars, Sri Lanka its got beaches, historic towns and you can do safaris to see elephants, etc. Zanzibar, Stonetown is very historic (UNESCO site) and Zanzibar also has nice beaches. Anywhere in South America is good except Paraguay is not good in January (too hot and humid) and Bolivia is not good (rainiest months are Jan/Feb). Jan is the best month for Bogota, Colombia and Colombia is a fascinating country, see Cartegena too and possibly get out to San Andres island. In addition to Argentina, check out Uruguay and Chile, both great too as well as Brazil.
