Lufthansa
Hello,
We are going on a trip in Sept. but have never flown with them before. The best service I have ever been on is British Airways. Does Lufthansa treat you as well? The little packets with toothpaste, eyemasks etc. Enough blankets for all passengers? I can't even doze without a blanket. Thanks!

My husband and I are traveling to Germany with Lufthansa in September so I'm also interested in the replies you receive. So far I have found out that they do serve complimentary wine and beer and I'm sure they will include a blanket and pillow on International flights. Just one thing - they don't have "in the seat" video screens"

According to www.airlinequality.com, Lufthansa is a 4 star airline and all U.S. international airlines are 3 star. Yes, free alcohol and you should expect good food. You will probably also notice that the fasten seat belt sign will not be on as much. You may want to read the comments on www.airlinequality.com about this airline. You may want to check www.seatguru.com to find out if you have individual television monitors at your seats. What type of plane are you flying on? 747? A-340?

Hi Dohlice - you don't say whether you're flying coach or biz. I've had 7 flights with them in the last 18 months (in coach) and IMO they treat you very well. FAs are attentive, friendly, although with typical German efficiency. Food is very decent (comparative term these days) and plentiful with choice of entrees. Plus 2 - 3 rounds of snacks on transatlantic flights. Free drinks (wine etc) before, during and after meals. After dinner drinks include a choice of liqueurs. Blankets, head phones and pillows (all in sealed bags) are on each of the seats when you board. As previously noted, no individual screens. No amentity kits -only in biz and FC.
I mentioned this in a post earlier this summer, but you may not have seen it. On our last trip (FRA-IAH), we had a very early connecting flight from MUC. Between the two hot meals we got, we were still pretty hungry since we had been up since 4 am to catch the first flight. I asked a FA if they had any more snacks. She asked if we were hungry. When I explained the reason, she asked where we were sitting and within 10 minutes, she returned with 2 fresh sandwiches, some fruit and 2 apple tarts (all from biz class). That went well beyond what we expected.

That is great news! I didn’t see your other post, I must not be as good at searching as I thought I was. I have already booked so technically it doesn’t matter, but I was wondering if I would need my own blanket, etc. Sadly I live a coach-seating lifestyle – haha. I have gotten good at bringing whatever I need to make us comfortable but the world has changed again and most of that is banned now.
We also have an early return flight which should be pretty ugly. I’ve only been shocked when flying twice. The first was at how well British Airways treats the commoners. The second was at how poorly Alitalia treats everyone. I’m relieved that Lufthansa is closer to the first!

I am delighted to read all your information on Lufthansa. Does anyone know if they have hand lotion dispensers in the toilets? The dry air make my skin feel like sandpaper. One last question - how does one get rid of the "nasty mouth" after wine and a nap when one is not allowed toothpaste? Ugh.
I was thinking of some toothpaste embedded into my toothbrush then the toothbrush head wrapped in plastic in my carry-on. Would that be too naughty?

I very much doubt they have hand lotion in the coach class. Thought I only saw liquid soap.
I've been thinking about similar logistics--I did manage to "soak" a few cotton pads with moisturiser, put them in a small (the snack size) zip-lock bag and put in my purse with a pack of kleenex.
On the oral hygine front, possible options can be dental floss or mouthwash strip films (I am wondering if they'd work like toothpaste).

Not in cattle class - at least not on any of the flights we've taken. Didn't see any hand lotion in WCs, only soap. We dealt with the dog breath issue and dry skin by taking amenity kits we got from previous trips to London on CO. But that was obviously before the latest restrictions. W9London has some good ideas with the mouthwash film strips, etc.

Thank you W9London I will visit my local Chemist and check for the dental wipes - otherwise it will have to be some Dentamint Gum for my "bottom of a bird's cage" type mouth. Now to resolved the "hand lotion" problem!

I mainly fly Lufthansa since almost 16 years. Alchoholics are free also on intra-european flights.
ALL passengers have their own pillow and blanked but you can ask for additional ones. I suggest you to do it immediately after the boarding, before take off and before others have the same idea !
I also found mouth refreshers in the toilets but remember to mix it with water before use !
Although the company invested a lot of money in new aicrafts and safety, I am also one of those who is still waiting for my own screen also in coach !
That's the only open point I see with this airline !
