Just learned Delta is ending direct ATL to BOM

We are bummed to learn Delta is ending this direct service ATL to BOM - returning to the JFK to BOM routing.

We had family come on this routing in May and it was so great for us. Not sure if the direct haul would be worth it if we have to get to JFK - Probably would go through Europe when we need to go in September 2010

It also gave us a feeling of comfort knowing that we could get there direct.

That IS a bummer. The non-stops to India are much better than having to stop along the way.

All flights are non-stop flights, dutyfree.

Looks like Delta is dropping JFK-BOM, as well.

What is it with Delta, they seem to be especially adept at causing customer inconvenience by cutting back on international routes -- seemingly far more than other carriers. They're cutting back or canceling service to Tokyo, Brazil, Colombia, Cape Verde, west Africa, Kuwait, and who knows where else.

Really that is news about the JFK flight... although I don't think it is worth it for me to fly up to JFK to get direct to BOM. I think now just plan to go through Europe as before ALTHOUGH I was just looking at options for a September trip and it looks like Delta to Dubai has good timings and then all of India is available from Dubai. One reason I wouldn't bother to JFK to get direct to BOM is that we often want to fly to Bangalore. If non-stop from our home base flying into BOM is fine but if we need to ultimately transfer in India not worthy the multistop.

Any plans anywhere for direct from any US port to Bangalore I wonder.....

Correct. No JFK-BOM either. They still have a NW service from AMS.

Rkkwan - do you have any insights about Delta to Dubai flights as a way to travel to India. From Dubai I think you can pick up Jet. I think that would give us more options to perhaps fly into Poona or Bangalore as need be for our itinerary.
