How is Continental's first class from EWR to Honolulu?

Has anyone flown this route recently? My elderly mom (85) is thinking of joining us in Hawaii. I have the miles to bump her up to first class out of EWR. How are the seats and service? I know domestic first class doesn't compare well to international, but just want as comfortable an experience as she can have for the long trip. Thanks for the help!

This route uses the same seats as their international business class. The service doesn't include all of the bells & whistles of BusinessFirst, but is a much more extensive service than typical domestic First Class - i.e. more food, etc. I believe that you also get access to the lounge.

This is an excellent service and is probably the best you will get to Hawaii. Well worth the miles - now you just need to find upgrade availability...

travelgourmet is right on. This is basically an international business class service, which is why they don't offer free upgrades to elites for flights to HNL. Only with miles + co-pay.

Thanks, rkkwan. I got very lucky and found an upgrade for the dates we wanted! Sounds like my mom will be very comfortable onboard.
