Food on AA
What can I expect for Dinner and Breakfast on a Flight from Dallas to Heathrow? We fly a lot, but not long international flights. These two meals are included. All I see on AA's website is for business and first class. Thanks.

Dinner - Usually served 1 - 1.5 hours after take-off. 2 choices, usually beef w/rice, or chicken w/pasta. If you are seated in the back, there's a chance you won't have any choice. Portions are getting smaller every year. Entree is served with a small salad (lately, cole slaw), and a small dessert (lately, carrot cake), a small bread roll with butter.
Breakfast - Usually served 1 - 1.5 hours before landing. It's a small lukewarm croissant with jam, juice, +/- yogurt (I used to get yogurt on DFW-london flights, but on my recent BOS-London flights, no yogurt. Not sure if it's a cut or if it's because the BOS-LHR flight is much shorter, hence less food.)
On the whole, I'd say the food is not enough to keep one full. It's fine for me as I have a small appetite, but my husband gets hungry quickly given the tiny portions. You might want to bring some protein bars with you if you have a healthy appetite.
-----------------------
You didn't ask what you'll get on your way back, but I will write it out anyway.
Lunch - 2 entree options, similar to dinner choices I wrote above. Instead of cole slaw, it's usually a real mixed salad. And no nasty carrot cake but rather a Walker cookie.
Snack - the nastiest Veggie pizza ever. It actually has improved somewhat in the last year or so, (ie less gooey cheese), but I still find it inedible. I usually pass, or if I'm w/my husband, he eats my share too.

Which flight are you on - the 5ish or 8ish departure?
If I were on the later flight I'd get a good meal on the ground before departure, and get into sleep mode as soon as I boarded the plane. As YK said you won't get fed until 1-1.5hrs after departure, which means 9-9:30 assuming no delays. It's not good enough to wait up for, or rue skipping.

Remember FEBO. On the flight to LHR, food will be served from front to back and on the return flight, back to front.
If you are on 78, the later flight, dinner in terminal D is a very good suggestion.
When last we did that, we were able to get desert only at the beginning of dinner service, and very much appreciated the two extra hours of sleep during the flight to London. But, in coach, your ear protection is limited to ear plugs and you might want to invest in noise reducing ear phones.

AA snack pizza =
amp;
I am not a complainer, pretty easy-going. But I sure wish AA would stop serving this.
This is when I wish they'd have a few choices for purchase.
I've just gotten used to picking up a sandwich at the airport.

Hey, I like that pizza, especially the one dark grape that comes with it! No kidding. It feeds me well enough since all I do is sit still, not using many calories. And it goes well with the Beaujolais (but not with that California wine they had lately).
Coming back, I always stock up on two or three Lindt or Cailler or other such "real" Swiss chocolate bars - they help to bridge any gap.

The only thing is that they might run out of meals and snacks, if you're seated in the back of the plane. The safest thing would be buy food from the airport and bring it on board.

Actually the pizza I've had on several LHR-JFK flights wasn't that bad. It sure beat the "snack pack" they used to distribute.
Coach is coach. Food in coach on the AA international flights is very very drab. BA and VS are far better. And both of them give you free wine or beer. AA charges.
But what are you going to do.

and 3 spoonfuls of starch, and a few pieces of veggie.
