Buy now for Hawaii June-July?

I have a June 28 wedding to go to in Honolulu and my spouse and I planned to tack on a few days in Kauai since we're flying from the east coast. Prefer packages for the better value (booked previously with Pleasant Holidays).

Problem is I don't know if I should buy now. In early January had a 4 night Oahu/9 night Kauai itinerary for $3300 on Pleasant Holidays, now up to $3800- all that seemed to change was the flights.

I know no one here is a seer, but I'm wondering with the economy if you think it will go back down again.

Thanks.

Flights from the east coast to Honolulu for June are currently running close to $800. Summer is prime travel time and I think many people may opt to stay closer to home this year so flights could fill up.

My bet would be that the flights will not go down in price.

It is not necessarily the Hawaii flights that caused the increase in flights. If you are flying from a small market then it might be the flight from your home airport to the airport where you connect to fly to Hawaii.

Consider using a different departure airport and/or try different dates, if you can. It is the last day of the month, so possibly the last day of a fare sale (except I noticed that the fare sale I've been considering has been extended unti Feb 18).

If a lot of people buy tickets and relatively few seats remain in, say, early May, then prices will not go down. They will probably go up.

So, you make the guess.
