Be Careful About Turkish Airlines

Dear friends,

I want to say that be careful about Turkish Airlines who is a member of Star Alliance.

We flight by Turkish Airlines on 02 August 2014, flight number TK 2027 from Antalya to Ankara. We gave one years old baby's stroller to the baggage system. After the flight we saw that our stroller all break down. Turkish Airlines said that they are sorry and will pay its bill.

We send the stroller's official invoice that shows the price is 880 $ to Turkish Airlines. Now they send us e-mail that they wil only pay 300$ to our stroller. We will attent to the court.

So be carefull about Turkish Airlines, they are breaking, loosing your baggages and not paying their costs.

$880.00 for a stroller seems very high. What brand is it? Did you have a purchase receipt?

Sorry but In Turkey prices are so high more than US and Europe. And also we have official purchase receipt that shows its price is 880$. And we sent it to Turkish Airlines. Our stroller brand is Janes Rider. Everyone can check the price in Turkey on internet.

I think most, if not all, airlines have limits on what they will pay for lost/damaged baggage. Not fair, perhaps, but that's life. Good luck with your claim.

The limits on liability are often established by treaties, so it may not be fair, but it is probably legal.

I think this could happen on any airline, so perhaps the appropriate warning is "be careful about checking an expensive stroller..."

The liability limit is 1131XDR/SDR, about US$1,728 today. Set up Montreal Convention, and updated regularly. More than what the OP is asking for.
