Anybody know what an independant Air Courier is?

On Monster.com this was mentioned as a cheap way to travel and make some money. I have no idea what an air courier is and wondered if anyone else might....Any clues would be appreciated. Thanks!

JW
An "air courier" is a person who carries in his possession documents/papers/etc and personally delivers them to the desired addressee.A human FedEx as it were.Banks, law firms, anybody these days who wants something personally delivered.Once delivered, the courier usually has some free time then returns to "base".Expenses are usually paid by the "firm" employing the courier. And a salary of some sort is paid.I have a bud who did it,Washington to LA every week.
Jason

Thanks Jason, very interesting. I appreciate the honest reply. When I mentioned it to my husband he quipped something about drugs or HAZ materials... Some people...Thanks again, perhaps I'll look into it.

That's one kind of air courier. Another, and maybe more prevalent is a person who contracts with a company and pays a very low fare for a flight. But the company uses the persons luggage allowance for their "freight." The courier is only allowed carry on and, at each end, is met by people who give and take the luggage.

There's more to it but I'm not expert in the matter.
