Any seat sale predictions?
So do you think there will be some good seat sales coming out soon?
Looking to book airfare for May from Buffalo, NY to Anchorage, AK and was wondering whether to book now or wait for a seat sale...
Any insights appreciated!
Enjoy-la!

I'd keep checking kayak.com or other similar website. I've been checking for some time for open jaw tickets from the West Coast to Paris-Venice-Rome and just snagged a good price that was nearly $200 less than a simple roundtrip to Paris.

Jeff_Costa_Rica - never thought to think about fuel prices; good point. And thx again for your help with CR details. Just got back and knew exactly where to go to get colones at the airport. Wow, what a zoo getting out of there. We used an official cab but think he tipped himself (I'd read it was $25 or $26 but he said it was $28. If he needed the $ that bad, I wasn't going to argue.)
elnap29 - I love kayak too. Kicking myself for booking this late but had to get some vacation dates settled.
rkkwan - that got me motivated! Happy New Year!
Thx a mint for the replies - off to book my flights now!

www.farecompare.com good info on this
usually there is a slight dip it price in late Jan
Usually best prices on a Tues after 3PM it late Jan
when everyone matches sales from other carriers.
Not sure much will happen this year traffic up sales down
No great bargains so far and per Jeff fuel charges
are being added by many carriers...
So I am booking up B the end of Jan...

You never know, but I would be rather cautious: the dollar is pretty weak in many countries (including Latin America, Asia), so more Americans (and foreign visitors) will spend vacation in the US than usual. So I predict strong demand for Alaska...in other words, higher fares and fully booked flights.

Thx a mint for all the replies
I already booked all Alaska leg yesterday, and finished off the outbound flights today. Here's how I "fared":
BUF > ORD > YVR: $150e-certificate + $290
BUF > ORD > SEA > YVR: $311
ANC > SEA > IAD > BUF (2 tickets): 26K BoA WorldPoints + $348
ugly itin but other options were prohibitive
So $950 for 2 flights from Buffalo to Vancouver, and Anchorage to Buffalo.
I could have shaved off $60 if I was willing to make 2 stopovers to Vancouver instead of 1, but I think $60 is worth the hassle. On the other flight the difference was $120. Interesting to see what my break point was for an extra stop. If we were flying in winter weather, I would have gone for it, but $120 seemed like a lot for spring flying.
I think the pricing was a bit above what I expected but at least now I can relax and enjoy planning the activities for the trip and not stress over airfares...ahhh.
