Just because this was so amazingly clueless, I wanted to post it.

Just flew from Detroit to Seattle - full flight - a few days ago, and this was the worst kid-sitting-behind-me story ever.

It was a child of about three years, and the mom had a deck of cards. They played SLAP-JACK on the tray table.

SLAP-JACK!

Many games. With big slapping on the tray table, and shouts of excitement from both mother and child.

It was actually happening on the seat behind the person sitting in the middle seat (I had the aisle), but every slap shook our entire row.

Asking them to stop did no good - what would you have done? We pretty much leaned forward and endured it, but I guess maybe someone should have informed the FA.

How about turning around, smiling and saying “Hello little fella. Did you know that slapping the tray table can make the plane crash?”

Did you try everyone in your row reclining your seats at the same time?

Excuse me, but contacting the FA is the only rational course of action here.

And I hope you clever people realize that xcountry's remark could get one arrested.

I didn't really think xcountry's remark was meant as a serious response, but I liked it and not sure how anyone could get arrested for it. Arguably, notifying a flight attendent of the problem is the best way of dealing with any difficult situation involving fellow passengers.

I think most of us 'clever people' understood it was a <i>joke</i>.

It's called a sense of humor.

Then by all means, clever people, make a joke about crashing the plane on your next flight. I can't wait to see the outcome!

Meanwhile, grow a pair and report problems to the FA's, whose job it is to solve them.

If one is so obviously put off by other people's questions or observations, why continue to be a part of this forum?

I don't understand either but, as you said, have come to expect it. The replies are not only rude but completely predictable. I do not understand the motivation.

suze - I have come to the conclusion that this person must not have much of a life. Coming on these boards and being "provocative" in a predictable and pretty much lame manner is likely providing the only attention this person ever gets. It's actually kind of pathetic.
