21 hour layover in Doha?

My flight from Yangon-DFW will have a 21 hour layover in Doha, arriving 11:10 am, leaving at 8:10am the following day. Do they have a similar program like Emirates where if your layover is over 8 hours they provide a hotel room? Safe for a 24yo female to wander around by herself(during the day)?

Another factor is that, in the summer, Qatar and its Emirates neighbours can be hot as a furnace burner in the middle of the day. That's the heart of the controversy over staging the next World Cup of soccer there. Buildings and taxis are air conditioned but "wandering" outside will be physically challenging.

I would be in taxis most likely, just wondering if it's safe. I really hated Dubai, so I'm glad I will be in Qatar for a much shorter period of time.

Hi Jacketwatch, I did not like the 'fake-ness' of it all. I felt like I was always being hassled (and I did not feel this way in say, India...) and was just unimpressed after all of the research I did prior to my travels. I enjoyed the Dubai museum the most I think, because I got to see how it 'used to be' and I don't like spending time in malls...

Ok and thanks for the reply. I am surprised to hear you felt less hassled in India. I have been there 7 times and would call it hassle free.

Oh not hassle-free! But I definitely felt like I was being taken advantage of/things were shady/nothing was straightforward in Dubai!

I loved India tho, so I may be biased .
