Layover in Dubai

I will be leaving for Tanzania on March 12 and returning on the 24th...on our way back, we will have a several hour layover in Dubai. How safe would it be for 2 women traveling together to leave the airport to do a bit of shopping and sightseeing?

Thanks
Betty

Traffic is very bad in Dubai, if you only have several as in 2-3 you might want to stay in the airport there are plenty of shops there. If you're talking several as in 5 or more you'd have time to hit the mall or gold souk and be perfectly safe.

Yeah question is how much is several? If 5 hours, you can have a van pick you up and you take a 3 hour mini-tour which can probably include some shopping.

Yes, it's safe, it's very safe, it's so safe you wouldn't believe it.

Thank you all.

We will have several hours in Dubai...we get there around 11 AM and do not leave until 2AM ...at least that is what I understood from the travel agent.

So you have 15 hours, that is plenty of time. You could either arrange a private tour, or have a cab take you to a Big Bus stop and ride around on the bus for an hour or two. You can get off anywhere that interests you and get back on later. There are 2 routes, the city and the beach tour. Depending on what you want to see you can choose which bus to take. It even includes a free dhow ride down the creek. I enjoyed doing this and also walking around the old Dubai. The bus tour does end at 5, so if you do it, plan on getting off somewhere near a mall so you can shop. Have fun!

www.bigbustours.com click on destinations, then Dubai.

If you are too tired after your long flight and just want to rest - there is a hotel inside the terminal. You don't need to clear immigration etc etc.,

Yes, very safe - if you choose to go check out the city. probably not enough time to go to the dunes, though.
