CC is absolutely right and don't let anyone convince you that you need a visa in advance. When I was planning my trip I kept getting ads from visa services offering to get me a visa for up to $100 plus the cost of photos. It is a complete waste of time and money. It takes just a few minutes to get it at the Cairo airport as it only costs $15 and you don't need photos. Just walk up to the desk, give them $15 and they will put a stamp in your passport. Piece of cake. And of course, and you will do this BEFORE going thru passport control.

The visas are at airport-If you leave-like we went to Jordan for 4 nights you need to get again. Also-where you get Visas is before passport control-it looks like a bank. My husband kept arguing with me-thats NOT IT. It is it-looks like a bank.Fast easy-I tucked the exact $ in my travel pouch so I was ready. Chris

I read everyones replies to this before I went and arrived at the airport and was still stumped at where to buy the visas. In case you are wondering, like I was, you buy the vias from the currency exchange booths. Chris... we were confused too.

Miss Green-It was confusing. My husband argued with me the 2nd time we went to it. Good thing one of us does the research-or else we would be walking around in circles. Sorry I missed you at the Cairo Marriott-Chris

Chris... I changed my US Dollars to Egyptian pounds at the currency exchange.... if the man behind the desk hadn't asked me if i wanted to buy a visa, I would of walked away and gone to look for a booth that said "Visa's".

I don't remember a dedicated visa booth for both times that I visited Egypt. When I arrived to cairo international airport by plane in May 2010, I went to the money exchange booth and bought a visa there. When I crossed the borders from Jordan into Tabo, Egypt in November 2010, I was directed to a money exchange desk to buy a visa. There was no sign at/near the desk to indicate that that was where one can buy a visa.
