Victoria Falls Accomodations

Planning a trip to Africa that includes a couple of days in Vic Falls. The agent I am working with is steering me to Tongabezi. I understand this is a 20 minute drive to the falls. I also understand this is an all-inclusive and pricey. I am thinking I would rather be close to the falls. The Zambia side is getting booked by the falls during my travel times. The Zibabwe side does have openings at Ilala Lodge. What do folks think?

Ilala Lodge is a great place to stay and is in easy walking distance to the Falls.

Ditto to what ShayTay said. I was there at the end of March a few years back and booked the Zambezi River sunset tour at the hotel. There was only one other couple on the boat, which made for a really relaxing cruise.

Thanks for the replies. My friend who is joining me has concerns about being on the Zimbabwe side due to the general unreast in the country. I suspect the falls area is safe and highly secured. Am I accurate?

I just spent a week in Zimbabwe (Hwange, Bulawayo, and Matobo Hills.) At the same time, 8 friends were at the Falls on the Zim side; none of us had problems. I think most Zimbabweans feel that the worst times are behind them, though there is still more to be done.

Just back from an incredible Bill Givens planned Botswana trip ending in Zimbabwe, staying at the Illala Lodge. Great stay, with very good service and food. Would not hesitate to stay there again.

We stayed at the Vic Falls hotel (which we regretted afterwards as it's no value for money AT ALL!), walked to the falls, I visited the market behind Barclays....I couldn't have felt safer!
Based on many good reviews I would book Ilala without hesitation!

Second choice would be Vic Falls Lodge.

Don't worry! Zimbabwean won't hurt any tourists as those are the ones who bring business! They can't afford to enter any bad news!

Enjoy the anticipation!
