SCUBA S.Africa Where's the best?

Have you done any SCUBA diving off South Africa? Where are the best reefs. Who are the best dive shops/outfits? What are the water conditions? Is it safe?
Thank you very much!

I know this wasn't your question, but you might want to check out the islands off Mozambique or Tanzania. Mafia Island, Vamizi...there are lots of them. Pricey but best reefs and dive operations. This is from research, not from experience. We go to Vamizi in Sept.

Rocktail Bay - just returned from diving there in December... very remote and the reefs are pristine... whales sharks, turtles, rays, eels and fish galore.

We dove Sodwana a couple of2 years back and it was spectacular. The journey with the dinghi through the surf was an adventure in itself.
We went for the Pelagic. I cannot comment on the corals now as we had a couple of El Niños since.
