Receiving mail from South Africa
Random question. Anyone ever have problems receiving mail from South Africa?
Had two friends send me stuff thru airmail over a month ago and still haven't received it.

Hari,
They gave us that book--Simply Safari--one night when we were at Phinda. I look at it often. It must be new because they don't include Londolozi.
Before our trip we received glossy large page brochures on the lodges.
Did you get the CCAfrica cookbook? It was in our orientation package.

I received some small items of photographic equipment from the USA recently. It took three months via US air mail parcel post! I might have blamed Australia Post, except the shipper told me the USPS wasn't the most reliable. I'll stick to FedEx or similar in future. Never had any problem sending to or receiving from South Africa, Botswana, Zimbabwe etc...a bit slow sometimes, but the stuff always arrived.

John,
I am with you. I made the mistake of having a small package sent to me by USPS and it took months to reach me. It turns out it was mishandled by the post office in Sukuza. It finally reached me the day I was leaving for East Africa. I was very lucky to get it as I needed it for the part of the trip. I will also use Fedex in the future.

George,
Yes, I've used FedEx and similar in the past with great results...five days' delivery for hugely expensive items from the States-- wonderful! On this occasion, though, I decided it would be overkill for a couple of small items worth less than $100. Big mistake!
