Rain, Rain - Go Away (and don't bother to return another day, yet)

Recent report from Tanzania:

Kikoti Camp in Tarangire now closed for the near further. And Swala, you know, closed a few weeks back.
-having unusually heavy rains !!!!
-today cars stuck at Ndudu, at Tarangire
-at Olduvai they cannor cross the Olduvia river
-over 100 vehicles stranded there waiting for the waters to subside, but looks bad as until now (5PM) it is still high
-we're working on alternatives

-today cars stuck at Ndudu, at Tarangire

Wow!

-at Olduvai they cannor cross the Olduvia river

Really WOW! For those who aren't familiar with the area, this is the main road between Ngorongoro and Serengeti so everyone not flying in/out will be affected by this on transfer days.

We've crossed this thrice in moderately high water and I always wondered what people do when it's high ... I guess you wait and hope it subsides.

Carol and I were soooo lucky on our recent trip since it stopped raining about 10 days before we arrived and started back up a day or so after we left.

whohw! I was very lucky then (as was Bill), we hardly had any rain.

I heard Suyan (in the Gol Mountains) is hard to reach / not reachable at all as well at this moment..

Wow and to think this time last year they were desperate for rain...I guess it never rains but it pours..... I was envious of how green it looked in Bill_H's photos, thinking I'd chosen the wrong year (migration was late due to the drought last year etc etc) but now I hear this...what a nightmare for those folks stuck by Olduvai.
