Haven't the ellie sightings the last few days been great. The sounds are wonderful - hearing them slurping and sucking up the water. I've been off from work this week and have watching the evening activities. Pete's Pond rocks!

The third season of NG's WildCam Africa has been extended until December 30, 2007! It was scheduled to end on December 15th.
I was just "pondering" the possibilities of how to celebrate the season's last night.

All you birders should check out Pete's Pond. There has been some amazing bird action lately. And this am there was a herd of ellies with 2 tiny newborns. Right now is the resident croc Fatty. Last week he had an intruder (croc) but he chased it away.
National geographic, Pete's Pond and Mashatu are working on keeping the cam up all year round.

Here is an adorable video of the baby at the Pond yesterday morning.

There were more babies today!
Scott, are you planning another trip back there anytime soon? It's been over 2 years since my last trip to Africa so I am very eager to return. Been reading the cyberdiaries at both Mashatu and Mala Mala, lots of great sightings as usual. So glad the WildCam is back up and running, love it!

The wild dogs that have been in quarantine at Mashatu for the past several months are being released this morning (9am Botswana time).
A couple of them are collared and some have already been seen mating, so with any luck, if they decide to den in the area, we have a chance of seeing pups this July.
Hoping they decide to cruise by Pete's Pond for a drink so we can see them live on the WildCam. <)
