Lynda thanks for asking, it's actually my Sister in law and her family. They have been doing fine and were on safari in the mara over new years and reported no problems going to and from. She has noticed an increase of foot traffic in their neighborhood due to all the displaced people. They have gathered together with friends and nieghbors and donated items to try to help but she said there is only so much they can give and then more people will need more help.
I am glad that we have been so i know where they live and how secure their "compound" is.
i sent her an email earlier today asking her about this news of the Peace Corps, i usually get my repies the next day and will post if she has any comments.

If anyone one is interest this is the email i just had from SIL who lives in Nairobi and works in the US Embassay.
"actually they pulled out most PCVs about 2-3 weeks ago although the administrators
based here in NBO are still here (at least the director was here last week since
i saw him in a meeting. Some were reposted in Tanzania, others went back to the
States.
our gardener John has been stuck in kakamega as he went there for vacation for 2
weeks but then the busses stopped running because of roadblocks and being set on
fire. he's going to try to come back today or tomorrow but has to leave his
family in kakamega because his house here is in a kikuyu neighborhood and he's
luhya and that's not good. he doesn't know yet if he has a house to come
back to or not. if he doesn't, he'll be staying with us for a while....
yes, our life has revolved between Runda, Gigiri (embassy) and ISK (school)for the past
month and we haven't been out of town at all. We're supposed to go to Samburu
next week, but Henry is nervous about driving there so we may cancel that. bummer."
