Ngorongoro FarmHouse pls comment
Hi all
Has anybody stayed in Ngorongoro Farm House ? What is it like?
in some sites they say it contains 9 bungalows. Go2Africa defines: "Three separate and intimate camps of 9 comfortable bungalows,"
http://safari.go2africa.com/accomm-t...age~ngorongoro
does it mean 9 in all or 3x9=27 ??
A friend of mine takes an incentive grp of 45 pax & was told they could b accommodated.
i know it is not situated on the rim - how is the location? any view? what kind of walk
in the farm they have? within a coffee plantation?
thanx in advance

Hi aby,
While you're waiting for an answer, is this the place you mean:
http://www.go-safari.com/Manyara/Farmhouse.htm
?
The link is from Eben's website. Sounds like 3x9=27 to me.

You can see my pics here:

It is growing larger every year. They have plans for a conference center and more. gETTING MORE POPULAR WITH LArge groups which is why I like to avoid it
But is only 5 minutes from the NCA gate (nearest of all the lodges away from the rim).
It's quite a walk just from your room to the main lodge!! But you can can walk around the grounds too. You can see the views in my pics.

I've stayed at the Farmhouse a couple of times. It's a beautiful property, situated on a 500-acre working farm near Karatu. Most of the food served there comes from their own land. They grow coffee and much more. You can tour the farm on your own or with one of the employees. If he has time, perhaps Alfred the manager could give you a tour.
The views vary, but most look over the farm and toward the surrounding hills, including the Crater.
They now have more than 9 bungalows. Some are close to the main building, while others are a bit of a hike. The rooms are absolutely HUGE and are beautifully decorated. I especially like the "coffee table" which has the four stages of coffee beans under glass.
There is a comfortable main lodge with seating inside and out, a bar, dining room and TV corner (CNN is usually on.) They also have a pool, nice on hot days. They often have a local dance troupe that performs in the evenings before dinner. Dinnertime is about the only time you'll see the other guests. Meals are served buffet style.
The Farmhouse is affiliated with Kibo Safaris (Willy Chambulo.) Their website is www.africawilderness.com. You won't go wrong if you stay here.
