Non-smokers can be so precious. And they assume that the hated smoker has no sense at all.
To all you smokers out there - prove you have some. Easy - just carry an old film can and put your butts in it and take them away with you.
And remind the non-smokers, as someone else has already said, to do the same with their ring pulls - and the F***in cans, seeing as they have to drink crap.

2 out of every 3 posts you make are just so full of bitterness and angst. Such a shame as the good points you sometimes make are lost in the irritation I'm sure I'm not alone at feeling when I read your messages.
Rather than this being a case of non-smokers against smokers it's a case of spreading knowledge.
I used to be a smoker myself and I have nothing against smoking at all. I'm not a born-again anti-smoker by any means. When I smoked I would also occasionally discard butts on the ground as I was also not aware of this issue. Most often I tended not to, not because I was being environmentally conscious but because I don't like littering anything.
Everything in life isn't a us/ them scenario, you know.

I agree with the notion that we should consider that wildlife might be injured by our carelessness. The fact that the stubs are biodegradable, and presumably that makes it okay to toss them out the car window or on the ground, is very misleading. Biodegradable is a relative term. If I throw my washing machine in a ditch, it is biodegradable - just takes longer than the 1-5 years for a cigarette stub.
The bigger question I have is, “Why do many, heck I’ll even say most, smokers think the world is their ashtray?” And those who throw cans, etc, on the ground are no better.
