You are too a photographer! You have a wonderful assortment of photos. And I loved the comments like the dik dik giraffe war and the excitement over a new bird tic.
Are you in any of them, maybe one of those watching the wildebeest?
The baby elephant against mom's leg was adorable. The lion at the waterhole was beautiful. Your pairs of cheetah and zebra were real portraits. Loved the striding rhino. The giraffe getting ready to drink is such a disjointed oddity that you did a great job of capturing.
Your pictures of cats near the vehicles can serve as a visual answer to the question, "How close can you get?"

Thanks Leely. Beautiful pictures – all of them. Especially the topi close up and the headscratching topi with “details”. The Arusha buffaloes look very bucolic, the baby elephant crossing the road looks like something I could take home with me, the spraying crater lion looks ideal and I like the underside of the baby lion’s paw. Will you post any photos of Wilbert?

Now this is important enough to be late for a lunch meeting for!
From Den’s Trip Report (to be): “It was a real treat to meet the rest of the Mollel family! Wilbert’s photographs just don’t do him justice - he is so handsome and just SPARKLES!”
If I were 30 years younger, I would have said Mwenyezi Mungu! Huyu ni mrembo! They all are very handsome and I have been married longer than they have been alive!
You can find Wilbert in the third photograph.

Hari, if I'm remembering correctly, the cheetahs were males (youngish), in the short grass plains, south-west area of Seronera. I'd have to check a Serengeti map to be sure. We saw 10 different cheetahs this trip; one or two in the Crater and the rest in the Serengeti. We watched two pairs hunt unsuccessfully on a couple of occasions. (Of course last trip a cheetah jumped up on the hood of our Rover--hard to top that! but the sounds of these guys gnawing on their little Tommie was pretty good.)
Den, thanks for the photo of Wilbert. I agree, he sparkles. And his mother is gorgeous. His sister, his brother, his nephew, etc.--all pretty darn sparkling.
Lynn, I'm on the right in the binoc photo. I should say that our Nomad guide Squack looked very much like a kid my friend Kari and I used to babysit when we were teenagers. We all remarked on it, "Oh, he looks just like Rob Cole!!!" So I felt very comfortable teasing him a bit, and hence the bird-book comments.
Nyamera, I thought you'd like the topi shots, even the graphic one.
Lisa, I'll have to come up with some good lines for the giraffes. I think I have an impala shot that may work, too. With a little photoshop I can create my Hallmark masterpiece!
carolines and cindysafari, your times will come before you know it.
Everyone else, I agree with you; I want to go back right now, too!

Ok, so I had to take another look at your pictures yet again b/c they are so good and seem to give me a well needed African visual =D> Only problem is they do make me itchy to get back to E. Africa - this will ruin my potential Southern Africa dreams, unless of course I become rich enough to combine both - mostly unlikely -such dilemmas to suffer thru.
Thanks for the second and probably not last peek at your wonderful trip photos - love them.
You, the glowing subject matter and the camera did very well together.

Fantastic photos! My favorites would be the Lion with the huge mane, the baby elephant wandering across the road and the giraffe bending in ten places to get a drink! What type of camera/lens did you use?
Thanks for the photos!

Leely,
Just returned from the Northern Circuit, we must have been following close behind you - so many similar photo opportunities. Your shots are immensely more enjoyable - take the compliments given - you deserve them. The 2 zebras drinking water is adorable, and the cats next to the car?? Wow. Did I catch your name in the Tarangire Safari Lodge guestbook? Wildebeestus (Deb)

Jenn, 10 days! Lucky! Be sure to check back in and let everyone know how your trip went. Don't forget your sense of humor; you may need it.
wildebeestus, I love your screen name. I wasn't at the Tarangire Safari Lodge, although my friends did make fun of me for just how "into" signing guestbooks I got. Maybe it was my doppelganger.

Leely,
I'll definitely report back. I actually booked my trip before I found this forum, so didn't have many questions on the itinerary. I've been reading for quite some time now though just trying to learn as much as possible before I go.
I've wanted to go to Africa for some time now, so I am so excited to go.
I'm like you though and feel like I make friends whenever I go on a trip, so it's hard to not go back to places I've been before.
Jenn
