How to remember

Hi All
Just about on our way. Hope this is not a totally silly dumb question, but- I'm carrying our main camera gear, not checking it in luggage. Also, when in camp, on safari, at dinner, where ever I go I plan to take this small bag. (It is actually a small diaper bag I picked up at Target, looks more like a purse, certainly not like a squared fancy vinyl camera bag. $8 US). Anyway, finally to my question. Anyone have any tricks for remembering to pickup a bag should you set it down for a moment or perhaps like at the dinner table? I don't carry a purse around like a lady so I don't automatically pick up a bag.
Actually, it is probably more likely that I would lose the bag by just leaving it rather than having it stolen. But regardless, I still have to carry it around some if not all of the time.
Don't laugh too much. I'm nervous enough anyway
regards - tom

When you sit down, put the strap around your ankle??

;-)

Have a great trip!

Have your wife carry your man-purse?

Seriously, I sometimes do what cooncat suggests, or a variation: I put it somewhere that I have to step over it/trip over it to exit.

Have a fantastic time! Where are you off to; is it East Africa this time?

or loop the strap over your knee? If it's small enough, just throw it over your head and shoulder and carry it all the time? I always use a backpack on safari and carry it everywhere but I'm used to carrying a purse and have never (knock wood) left it anywhere.

I like the ideas of attaching it to yourself. Or just on your lap.

Have a wonderful trip.

I agree to put the strap on your ankle or even set the bag on the table beside plate.

Off to - first is 3 nights Krueger Nat Park, then 4 nights MalaMala (South Africa), then 6 nights Nsefu and TenaTena (Zambia), finally 5 nights Lil Governors Camp (Kenya). Some bouncing around, but not too bad. At least when we get to a camp we are staying a while. We have adopted two elephants at Sheldricks (Nairobi) and very much looking forward to meeting them. A nice way to end the trip I think.
Trip report - I'll try. I owe it to you guys for sharing so much. Writing is a big chore for me, does not flow easily nor quickly. If I write half as well as most of you, I'll be proud of myself.

Tom,

Put it in a pillowcase, and you'll lose it on pain of death

John-
Pillowcase, pillowcase, hmmm, sounds familiar. . . . trying to remember
Thanks Carla
Probably the strap around the ankle would work good for me, I'll try it.

Hey Tom,
Just want to say have a fabulous trip and please try to post just a little about it when you get back. The highlights will do

Re the bag, I always put mine between my feet in such a manner that if I don't support it it falls over so I remember to keep my feet to it but the tie around ankles suggestion is probably much more foolproof.

Have a GREAT time!!
