How bad is Virunga?

So we booked Virunga for our upcoming trip a year ago before the Silverback Lodge opened. I just tried to switch lodges and was told that I would lose 100% of our money in switching (and then still have to pay for the new lodge). So obviously, no switch will be taking place. We are not used to roughing it....how bad will Virunga be? I did not realize that there is no electricity or running water. Does the lodge have internet access for guests?

Are you kidding?

It is the nicest place in the country. Relax.

The Virunga Lodge is wonderful -- very comfortable, with great views and excellent service. I doubt there is any internet service there, but I don't know for sure. I am confident you will enjoy it, though -- we loved all the Volcanoes Lodges we stayed in.

Yeah, what tacos said! Relax!

I stayed there a few years ago and it was wonderful. The views are spectacular.

No electricity in the rooms but you can charge your camera gear and stuff in the lounge. I can't remember if they had internet because I didn't care.

The only downside is that it's a little bit of a drive to the park headquarters.

Andrea I have not stayed at Virunga but as with the answers you have already received it is supposed to be lovely. Think of the lack of electricity as romantic!! The only reason we did not stay there was because we wanted to be closer to the ranger station. Don't worry about it and have an amazing time.

Ok...This makes me feel better. I was worried about the "basic" bathroom and bedroom.
