Feedback on Accommodations

Hello,

We are in the process of finalizing our agenda for Uganda and Rwanda. Before we agree and put down our deposit, I would love some feedback on the quality of the accommodations.

I am sort of a "princess" but not too bad. I will not share a bathroom and it must be clean! I also need a running shower in my room, with hot water.

At the same time, our budget cannot pay for all high range accommodations so we are focusing on mid-range. This is what the agent has proposed:

Hotel Africana

Kibale Forest Bandas-she says these were recently updated and "nice"-I wonder how nice. She says we can change it to Chimpanzee Guest House in a private cottage, but she feels we'll like the Banda.

Mweya Safari Lodge

Ishasha Wilderness Camp

Buhoma Homestead

Kinigi Guest House

Gorillas Hotel

I am most concerned with the Kibale Banda and the Kinigi Guest House.

Thank you so much.

I feel like I'm in the Ferris Bueller movie, "Anyone? Anyone?"

ca-vol, We were in Uganda in April and stayed at the Africana in Kampala, Gorilla Resort in Bwindi, and The Boma in Entebbe. I would recommend all of them.

Thank you!

I read some not-so-great reviews about the Africana. I already emailed the agent and asked her to change it. You liked it?

We had a room on the 6th floor of the "tower" and it was fine. Noise was not a problem in that part of the hotel. It was fun to see all of the dressed-up locals at the parties every night. Breakfast wasn't great. Staff was friendly and helpful. We left luggage at the hotel twice while we went on tours to Bwindi and to Murchison Falls.

Thank you again. The reviews I read said it wasn't terrible but with all the options in Kampala, that there were better places to stay for the money.

Would you agree or do you think I should email my agent back and tell her "nevermind?"

I spent a lot of time stressing out over the same thing---but the Africana seemed like the best option from the list my TA sent me. I liked the location and the price. We were satisfied with our selection.
