Hi ShayTay! Thanks for the link. I tried to look at the dimensions but the diagram was way too small to read them and when I zoomed in the resolution was so poor it was illegible...is there somewhere that it actually says the dimensions?

The important thing about the duffel is its soft sides as it will be squeezes and manipulated into the pod or the storage cabin in the tail. Avoid taking hard square and or duffels with wheels. If you observe the weight and these characteristics you'll be fine.

Hi Moira,

They've changed the website since I got the measurements, and I can't see them anymore, either. I was able to get the measurements earlier, though, so I went back to an earlier post I had made for the measurements of the door: 27" * 9.5". One of our travelers put a basket she had bought in her duffel and had to take it out, as the bag would no longer fit through the door. She just carried it in her lap. There is also some space behind the last two seats that can be used.

This is also where a travel vest with big pockets like Rocco used to get teased about, comes in handy. I bought one through Sierra Trading Post on the cheap. I'll keep it folded up and packed until I want to use it on drives, but it also will be handy if I have to do some last minute rearranging to lighten a load or reduce volume. My intent is mostly for photo gear, but you can load them down with just about anything that can be stuffed into the pockets.

Here's some larger, more intricate duffels that I found. These all have a lot of compartments for different stuff.

(28x13x13) ($50)

Hope that helps people out. I still need to get mine. I think I'll get one big and one small (so that on the Intercontinental flights it will meet the carry-on requirements).

I would suggest you to check out the collection of Duffel Bags at www.saneswap.com. They have a wide collection of bags including satchel bags, messenger bags, duffel bags and many more.
