Combining weight: 30 lbs each or 60 lbs per couple?

A week to go so it's time to start packing. Does it matter that each of the duffle bags be under 30 lbs or is it OK that both combined are under 60? (One of the bags is bigger than the other.)

Hello,

It's 30lbs per person -- if both of your bags are reasonably close (e.g. 35 lbs / 25 lbs) you should be fine, but you may run into problems if one of them is grossly overweight.

Cheers,
Julian

We have traveled extensively and have found that "most" checkins, will weigh the bags together and take the total weight.

We have only found one country, on one trip (of many) that weighed our bags together and then when they were overweight, weighed them separately and then we paid $50.00 per bag for over weight luggage. And it was in Canada.

earlier this month for our first trip Airkenya weighed all four of our bags together. We were exactly 60 kilos. Also, they did not weigh our carryons, despite what there website says.

Zanair, going to Zanzibar from Arusha, weighed our bags together and then charged us $26 overweight. On the return flight, same bags, nothing added - no charges - go figure.
