Please search this forum for Cape Town restaurants since there have been many posts here. A recent N.Y. Times article on Cape Town mentioned a couple of the hottest new ones, but they aren't right in town.

It also notes how cheaply you can dine in the finest places. I hesitate to recommend places I like since I haven't been there since 2006 and things change quickly in the resto biz.

We thoroughly enjoyed our multiple course meal at the Roundhouse in Camps' Bay with the wine pairing. I'd suggest if you go there you research when the sun will set and request a window table. it was one of the best meals I've ever had.

We spent a week there in 2007. There were many high points in the food arena but if I had to recommend one upscale restaurant (I am assuming you want upscale since you will be at Singita) it would be The Showroom.
There are also many great casual seafood places: we loved Panama Jack's

One waterfron in the Cape Grace is also very good!
All the roadside restaurants in Camps bay are nice for afternoon/early evening.

hi alund,
we were not there for fine dining. but we thought that the two oceans restaurant at the cape of good hope was exceptional for its postion with its captive audience. so different from our own dreadful Land's End.
regards, ann

Firstly, you will love Singita, enjoy! We loved Bukhara. The tandoori were excellent! Jardine was not as good as we expected; not on the same level of NYC restaurants of that caliber. The Cafe Royale serves delicious burgers; great for lunch! We will be returning to SA this June with our three teenagers and are looking forward to returning to Bukhara and trying other restaurants. Google best restaurants in Capetown and you will get some good feedback as well!
