Yes, it can be a very relaxing stop off point. Naivasha Country Club (and I expect others) do boat trips on the lake. Very close to the Hippos! And the bird life is wonderful.
A stop there overnight is a great way of toning down the frantic travel. You can easily do it as a day trip from Nairobi

Hi bernamanda
Naivasha is not only about relaxation;
You can climb Longonot volcano (strongly recommended!) - quite a steep ascent...
or serch for "Naivasha" in the box above
this is one thread for example:

IF you'd write what would you like to have on your Safari, then we can give you a better answer

The road to Naivasha is unbelievable - full of pot-holes and it is the main road running from the top to bottom of Africa, hence lots of huge trucks.
Lake Naivasha is pleasant. It's the location of an enormous flower industry, so there are polytunnels that go on forever. The environmental cost of this is huge, especially given that these flowers are flown out to Europe daily.
Lake Nakuru is much more impressive, if the flamingoes are there and the park itself has some interesting game.

We stayed at Chui Lodge in May and had a great time.. plenty of wildlife - great Leopard and Cheetah sightings. The camp itself is amazing.
We drove there, and took a plane to the Mara. As mentioned the road to Naivasha isnt the best, but I think that is the norm in Kenya.
If you get a chance, I do recommend a stop.
